Birthday/Christmas

So I get questions about what I want for my birthday or Christmas. Emily is the gatekeeper to that information. But if all else fails, a gift card to Lowe's will work. We've got plenty of stuff we could use from that store.

Building a Shed

So my dad and I put together a shed. Time to recover some space in the garage. It'll be nice to park both cars inside, especially come winter. It turned out to be a pretty good match with the appearance of the house.

We hand-mixed and -poured almost 2000 lbs. of concrete for the foundation. Those holes ended up being a little bigger than we planned.

BREAKING NEWS: Camping at Fort Buenaventura

So we finally went camping. It's up in Ogden at Fort Buenaventura. Camping is always a good time, plus we're up here with my cousin's family. Although I do have something to say about the site—railroad tracks 200 feet from your tent makes for a crappy camp spot. Seriously...

P.S. blogging while camping is hard work. I hope you all appreciate the breaking-news nature of our blog.

This Is Me

I'm not sure why, but this comic strip is so me. The alternate caption reads, "The worst part is when the sidewalk cracks are out-of-sync with your natural stride."

The Highlight of My Day

So Emily's been back east for the last week visiting some friends with her sister, and I've been here... alone, doing the same kinda things I did before I started dating her. Weird work schedules, hanging out with the single people at my house, going to the gym every day... It's not bad, and I enjoy it. Well, at least I used to. I've had a taste of something better now, and I couldn't go back. :bounce: And what's funny is how it's the simple things that she does that seem to have the biggest impact.

On the morning she was going to leave, I stopped by her work to say hi and bye, thinking it would be the last time I'd see her for awhile. But then she surprised me later by stopping by my work quickly on her way to the airport. It was a short and sweet visit, to be sure, but it was awesome! The highlight of my day, actually. :D And tonight she comes home and I can't help but laugh at how excited I am. I'm not sure why the small things in life can count for so much, but they sure do.

Our First Valentine's Day!

So, I'm totally sad I didn't have a camera to capture the sheer awesomeness of what Trevor prepared for me on Valentine's Day.. :) First off, I was at work when he surprised me with some flowers that were absolutely beautiful!! Then, that night I had a little scavenger hunt for him to go on. I just had little treats and with them I put a little note of our history together and how I felt at that particular time :) Then Trev came and picked me up and we went to his house and he had dinner layed out for me with some candlelight a-flickerin and some rose petals strewn about.. it was definitely romantic and I loved it!

5 Lessons Learned from an Accident

So, yeah, as Emily's post prior to this one indicates, my awesome driving skills on Monday proved to be the death of my lil' Mazda. However, I did manage to learn some important lessons:

  1. Faithful vehicle maintenance, regular washings, tire rotations, etc. do nothing to prolong the life of your car if you go run it into things at high speeds.
  2. Broken glass gets everywhere. Little nuggets, glass dust, glass slivers... I was still picking it out of my hair that night. And it somehow got into all my personal belongings that I took out of the car, even the ones in the glove box.
  3. Totaling your car is comparable to what I imagine murdering your best friend would be like: you feel a deep sense of shame and betrayal. The car seems to weep, "Hey buddy, what'd I ever do to you?" And when you go to the towing yard to remove the aftermarket wheels you had on the car, it feels like you're looting the corpse of your best friend after murdering him.
  4. Going from freeway speed to zero in an instant gives you a chilling idea of just how fast we're actually moving in cars.
  5. This is what $14,000 in damage looks like:

Eventful week

So.. yeah.. this week has been an eventful one.. to say the least :) Monday night, Trevor dear, was in a car accident!! It was really sad :( His left side of his face looked like he had been in a fist fight! His car got crunched pretty bad, so much that the damages were far too great to repair, so State Farm is going to total it :( So many good memories in that car..... But, I'm SO GLAD that Trev was okay! It was scary! So.. he's looking to get the same car he had before.. Other news... We got our engagement and bridals/groomals done on Tuesday! It was a fun time, especially to see Trev and I all dressed up! :) He looked real cute! The photographer said it will be no problem to touch up Trev's face because of the accident, so that's good! Hopefully we had a couple of good shots ;) Also.... I am pleased to say that I am now in a brand spankin' new building for work!!! Yeah baby! Exciting huh :)
